The assault case involving popular South African traditional healer and reality TV star, Gogo Maweni, has once again been postponed.
Gogo Maweni, whose real name is Makhotso Lee-Anne Mofokeng, is facing a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over an alleged incident that took place on December 18, 2019.
She was expected to appear before the Protea Magistrate’s Court in Soweto on October 15, but the case has now been rescheduled for October 22. The earlier postponement had been granted to allow her time to give birth to her twins and recover from the pregnancy.
The well-known sangoma and media personality is a mother of five. Her first son is from a previous relationship with an American man, her second son with actor Sthembiso Khoza, her third with former soccer player Siyabonga Zulu, and the twins with her husband, Sabelo.
As she prepares for the return of her reality TV show Thokoza Gogo, Gogo Maweni said she is ready to show fans a more personal side of her life. The 39-year-old has been filming with Moja Love, documenting her journey through pregnancy, motherhood, and her ongoing legal matter.
“People can expect me to do what I do. This year, because of my pregnancy, there will be fewer traditional things, because when you’re pregnant, there are certain things you can’t do,” she said.
“Last year I had a miscarriage because I didn’t want to stop working and continued as normal. So this year, when we found out we were pregnant, I decided to take a back seat and put my pregnancy first, especially since my husband and I just got married traditionally on August 24, 2024. Being pregnant this year is something I know he wanted.”
She added that her upcoming show will give viewers an inside look at her daily life, the challenges she has faced, and her experiences during pregnancy and family life.
