Toyota has unveiled the new Hilux Legend 55 edition in South Africa, commemorating the bakkie’s 55th anniversary in the local market. The special edition is released every five years to celebrate the Hilux’s status as a market-leading vehicle.
The Legend 55 is available in four versions. The Xtra cab is priced at R728,300 for the 4×2 model and R813,700 for the 4×4. The double cab versions are priced at R885,700 and R935,900, respectively, placing them just below the R999,000 GR-Sport in Toyota’s Hilux lineup.
This edition features a unique wide-body exterior package with a black grille, silver bash plate, and new 18-inch alloy wheels. Additional enhancements include a roller shutter, tow bar, and a distinct sports bar. Legend 55 badging appears on the doors, tailgate, interior scuff plates, and front seat headrests, along with a special 55th-anniversary plaque in the cabin.
Inside, standard features include a nine-speaker JBL audio and infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, downhill assist control, pre-crash system, and lane-keeping assist.
The Hilux Legend 55 models come with a three-year or 100,000 km warranty and a nine-service or 90,000 km service plan. Full driving impressions and additional details from the launch are expected to follow early next week.
