The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned Gauteng residents to brace for a combination of warm sunshine and scattered thunderstorms over the weekend, with varying conditions expected across the province.
The forecaster said that residents can expect isolated thunder showers to continue to develop in the afternoons, mainly over the northern parts of the province.
Spokesperson Lehlohonolo Thobela advised residents to remain cautious, particularly in areas that may experience lightning and brief heavy downpours during afternoon thunderstorms.
“In Gauteng, we are expecting partly cloudy conditions with warm temperatures but it will be hot in some places, in the northern parts of the province. Isolated showers and thunder showers are expected into the afternoon. On Saturday, we’re expecting partly cloudy conditions with warm temperatures to persist into the afternoon, with isolated showers and thunder showers still expected by the afternoon, especially over the central as well as the southern parts of the province.”
