The trial over the Limpopo pig farm double murder is scheduled to resume at the Polokwane High Court on Monday.
The case involves 60-year-old farm owner Zachariah Olivier, 19-year-old employee Rudolph De Wet, and 40-year-old employee William Musora. The trial is expected to conclude on October 17, 2025.
According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabo-Dzhangi, De Wet has agreed to testify as a Section 204 state witness. The trial was previously postponed in August after Olivier requested more time to prepare following De Wet’s decision to cooperate with the prosecution.
The accused face charges of murder, attempted murder, and defeating the ends of justice.
The victims, 45-year-old Maria Makgato and 35-year-old Lucia Ndlovu, were shot and killed in August last year while collecting expired food at Onvervaght farm in Sebayeng, near Polokwane. Ndlovu’s husband, Mabutho Ncube, was also shot but survived the attack.
The bodies of Makgato and Ndlovu were reportedly discovered by Musora the following morning when he arrived at work.
